Another weekend of hosting friends from home means more opportunity to get out and further explore this beautiful state of Tennessee!
A 12-hour drive from New York didn’t stop my friend Thad and his itch to get out and adventure around town. With blue skies and 75 degree weather, we decided on a day trip to Zoo Knoxville for a visit with our favorite animals, followed by a high-school reunion with some friends at Craft Axe Throwing.
The Zoo Knoxville entrance fee is $26.95 a person, which grants you a self-guided tour through one of the most active and largest zoo’s in the South! Lucky for us, Zoo Knoxville offers a TON of discounted prices, including FREE military tickets and student discounts!
We met up with our friends Troy and Kate who just recently moved to Knoxville from Upstate New York where we are from! Our group of 5 was ready to get some steps in for a gorgeous day of wandering with wild animals!
Zoo Knoxville always has a selective theme throughout their jungle. This time, we were greeted by Dinosaurs every square inch.
I was ecstatic to see that the Tigers were out of the shade and actively trotting around their exhibit, however our favorite exhibit had to have been the White-Handed Gibbon or “Baby Yeti” as we called them. These little guys were so excited and playful! Between chasing each other and showing their talent by swinging on all of the trees, our eyes were fixated on each of them. We didn’t want to leave!
All of this excitement left us hungry so we headed over to Craft Axe Throwing only 9 minutes down the road in downtown Knoxville for some friendly competition and grub!
$22 a person grants you 1 hour worth of axe throwing fun split between 2 bays, a fully stocked bar, and dining menu!
The staff was super friendly and took all necessary safety measures and game rules serious to ensure we enjoyed our visit and didn't have an 'ax-ident'. While I may not be an expert at the game, I did hit that bullseye not once, not twice… but 6 times!
Craft Axe Throwing is convenient to the rest of downtown Knoxville in case you wanted to explore scruffy city’s breweries and shops within walking distance.
Today was the perfect day with perfect weather, and I can’t wait to brag all about it in my Pen Pal Adventure Book!
