This day trip includes a kayak trip to a remote island with tons of shells and then great grub at a pub just around the corner!
Just before the entrance to Fort DeSoto in Tierra Verde, Florida is a pull off where you can park and drop your kayak in the water or reserve a tour in comfortable, easy to maneuver, sit-inside touring kayak from Island Kayak Tours.
It's a quick 30-minute paddle over to the beautiful Shell Key where you can relax, enjoy the sights, wander around the point to the Gulf of Mexico side and of course, add a broken shell to some driftwood as right-of-passage.
- Go during high tide!
- Bring water/sunscreen
- Bring a baggie if you want to collect a few shells
- Be careful if you're barefoot
After your kayak trip, head over to Jolly Roger's Grub and Pub for a meal and the game (if it's game time). This sports pub has friendly staff and a great salad with pina colada dressing that was oddly satisfying! It's right around the corner from the kayak launch.
Just another perfect day in Paradise daytripping in St. Pete!
Great one for the Pen Pal Adventure Book!
